When your RF system operates in extreme heat, standard jackets reach their limits. The RG115 Glass Fiber Braided Coaxial Cable is engineered for the most demanding thermal and mechanical environments. Built on the proven RG115 50Ω high-power core, this version adds a glass fiber braided jacket and a PTFE tape barrier to deliver continuous operation up to 250°C—while preserving the same low attenuation, high voltage, and high-power handling that make RG115 a benchmark for mission-critical RF transmission.
250°C Continuous Operating Temperature – Glass fiber braided jacket with PTFE barrier extends the range beyond standard FEP jackets.
12.4 GHz Maximum Frequency – Full broadband performance for high-frequency applications.
5000 VRMS Maximum Voltage – High-voltage capability for transmitter and radar systems.
High Power Handling – Up to 2600 W at 0.4 GHz, 1600 W at 1 GHz, and 400 W at 12.4 GHz.
Low Attenuation – 0.073 dB/m at 0.1 GHz, 0.250 dB/m at 1 GHz, 1.132 dB/m at 12.4 GHz.
MIL-DTL-17 Qualified – M17/62-RG115 part number for aerospace and defense reliability.
Glass Fiber Braided Armor – Resistant to cut-through, abrasion, and vibration.
PTFE Tape Barrier – Protects the inner conductor and dielectric from glass fiber micro-particles and mechanical stress.
RoHS Compliant – Environmentally responsible construction.
| Layer | Material | Diameter (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Inner Conductor | Silver-Plated Copper (SCC) | 2.13 |
| 2. Dielectric | PTFE | 6.48 |
| 3. Outer Conductor | Silver-Plated Copper Double Braid (SC) | 7.95 |
| 4. Barrier Tape | PTFE Tape | — |
| 5. Jacket | Glass Fiber Braid | 10.54 |
The glass fiber version is not simply a jacket swap. The PTFE tape barrier between the outer conductor and the glass fiber braid is a critical design element. It prevents glass fiber micro-particles and abrasion from damaging the delicate outer conductor and dielectric, ensuring long-term reliability in high-vibration and high-temperature environments.

Selection Guide:
Choose Glass Fiber when your priority is 250°C continuous operation, mechanical armor, and fixed installation in extreme heat.
Choose FEP when you need a lighter, thinner, more flexible cable with broad chemical resistance and a 200°C limit is sufficient.
Both share the same electrical performance. The difference is the jacket armor.
Aerospace & Defense – Engine compartments, avionics, missile systems, and radar transmitters.
Industrial RF Heating – High-power, high-temperature processing equipment.
Radar & Transmitters – High-voltage, high-frequency signal paths.
High-Temperature Sensors – Furnace, kiln, and exhaust monitoring.
Test & Measurement – Engine test stands and thermal chamber feedthroughs.
Mi litary Communications – Rugged, reliable RF interconnects in harsh environments.
Q: Is the glass fiber braid safe to handle?
A: Glass fiber can cause skin irritation. We recommend wearing gloves during installation. The PTFE barrier tape is internal and does not contact the installer.
Q: What is the minimum bend radius?
A: The glass fiber version is designed for fixed installations. It is stiffer than FEP. We recommend providing generous bend radii and avoiding repeated flexing.
Q: Can I use standard RG115 connectors?
A: The outer diameter is 10.54 mm with a glass fiber braid. You will need connectors and crimp tooling specifically sized for the M17/62-RG115 glass fiber version. Contact us for connector recommendations.
Q: Is the electrical performance the same as the FEP version?
A: Yes. Both versions share the same 50Ω core, 12.4 GHz frequency range, 5000 VRMS rating, and attenuation curve. The difference is the jacket and temperature capability.
Q: Can this cable be used at 12.4 GHz?
A: Yes. The maximum operating frequency is 12.4 GHz, with 1.132 dB/m attenuation and 400 W power handling at that frequency.
