The E xxxx SB Series is a PTFE insulated, unjacketed, braided shielded cable designed for internal wiring applications where EMI/RFI protection is required. The construction meets the requirements of NEMA HP3 and NEMA WC27500 for PTFE insulated electronic cable with silver plated copper conductor and 600V rating.
The insulation is PTFE, providing consistent wall thickness, high dielectric strength, and continuous operation from -90°C to +200°C. The shield is a silver plated copper braid with 90-95% coverage, offering effective noise rejection for sensitive circuits. There is no outer jacket—the braid is exposed, resulting in a cable that is lighter, more flexible, and lower cost than jacketed alternatives.
The conductor is available in two materials: electrolytic silver plated annealed copper for general applications, or high strength silver plated copper alloy (SCA) for applications requiring additional tensile strength.
Available in SB1 (single conductor), SB2 (twisted pair), SB3 (twisted triples), and SB4 (twisted quads) configurations. Custom core counts are also available upon request to meet specific design requirements.
Unjacketed Construction – The absence of an outer jacket reduces cable weight, improves flexibility, simplifies termination, and lowers cost. Suitable for applications where the cable is installed inside a protected enclosure.
PTFE Insulation Options – Extruded PTFE as standard (Type E). Wrapped and sintered PTFE tape (AFR-E) available on request. Both provide stable electrical performance from -90°C to +200°C and resist chemicals, solvents, and outgassing.
Silver Plated Copper Braid Shield – 90-95% braid coverage. Effective against electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. Silver plated surface ensures solderability and corrosion resistance.
Conductor Options – Standard silver plated copper for general use. SCA high strength alloy for pull-through installations, vibration-prone environments, or applications with high tensile loading.
Multi-Conductor Configurations – SB1 (single core), SB2 (twisted pairs), SB3 (twisted triples), SB4 (twisted quads). Custom core counts are also available.
NEMA HP3 / WC27500 Standard – Manufactured to recognized industry standards for PTFE insulated electronic cable. Meets 600V rating and -90°C to +200°C temperature requirements.

Avionics and Flight Equipment – Internal wiring for flight computers, navigation receivers, and communication radios. Unjacketed construction reduces wire bundle weight. PTFE insulation withstands temperature extremes from cold soak to engine bay heat.
Radar and Electronic Warfare Systems – Shielded signal transmission between receiver modules and processing boards. Braided shield provides EMI rejection in high density electronic environments where multiple RF sources operate simultaneously.
Medical Imaging Equipment – Internal interconnects for CT scanners, X-ray generators, and MRI power supplies. Shielded design prevents high voltage switching noise from coupling into low level detector circuits.
Industrial Control Systems – Wiring between PLC racks, servo drives, and I/O modules. SB2 twisted pair configuration supports RS-422 and RS-485 fieldbus networks. SB4 quad configuration supports encoder and resolver feedback.
Test and Measurement Instruments – Internal signal routing in oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators. Braided shield prevents crosstalk between adjacent channels in multi-channel instruments.
Q: What is the difference between extruded PTFE and wrapped PTFE insulation?
A: Extruded PTFE (Type E) provides consistent wall thickness and is standard for this series. Wrapped and sintered PTFE tape (AFR-E) offers greater flexibility and a thinner wall for the same voltage rating. Both meet NEMA HP3 requirements. Wrapped PTFE is available on request.
Q: Why choose unjacketed shielded cable over jacketed?
A: Unjacketed cable offers lower weight, greater flexibility, easier termination, and lower cost. The trade-off is reduced mechanical protection. For internal wiring inside equipment enclosures, the chassis provides sufficient protection, making the jacket unnecessary.
Q: What does SB1, SB2, SB3, SB4 mean?
A: SB denotes shielded braid. SB1 is single conductor. SB2 is two conductors (twisted pair within a common shield). SB3 is three conductors. SB4 is four conductors. All configurations share a single braid shield over all conductors.
Q: What is the temperature range?
A: -90°C to +200°C continuous operation, as specified in NEMA HP3 for PTFE insulated electronic cable.
Q: Are you a manufacturer?
A: Yes, we are a direct manufacturer of wires and cables, based in Shanghai, serving aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial markets since 2005.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity?
A: MOQ varies by configuration. Contact our sales team with your specific requirements for a customized quote. Sample quantities are available for prototyping.
Q: What is the lead time?
A: Stock configurations ship within 7 business days. Custom colors, conductor materials, or non-standard configurations typically require 10-15 working days after order confirmation.
