The KT xxxx SB Series represents a sophisticated solution for signal transmission in extreme environments. This FEP high temperature cable is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of aerospace and industrial instrumentation, manufactured in accordance with NEMA HP3 and NEMA WC27500 standards.
At the conductor level, the series offers a choice between standard silver plated annealed copper or high strength silver plated copper alloy (SCA). The SCA option is particularly beneficial for aerospace applications, providing significant weight reduction and increased tensile strength without compromising conductivity.
Designed for reliability, the cable utilizes extruded FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) insulation, which offers superior dielectric strength and chemical inertness. Whether deployed in the freezing conditions of high-altitude flight or the intense heat of an engine compartment, this FEP insulated cable maintains its integrity across a range of -90°C to +200°C.
To ensure signal purity in electrically noisy environments, each configuration is encased in a high-quality silver plated copper shield. This shielding provides exceptional protection against EMI and RFI interference.

Aerospace & Avionics - The KT Series is a staple in aircraft wiring harnesses. The 250V rating aligns perfectly with onboard electronics, while the SCA (High Strength Alloy) conductor option significantly reduces weight while maintaining high tensile strength—a critical factor in airframe design.
Robotics & Motion Control - The multicore configurations (SB2/SB3) are ideal for robotic arms and dynamic cabling systems. The twisted construction minimizes crosstalk between signal lines, while the flexible FEP insulation withstands repeated bending cycles in motion control applications.
Semiconductor Manufacturing - FEP has very low outgassing properties, making this wire suitable for internal wiring inside vacuum chambers and wafer processing tools. The silver plated copper shield protects sensitive control signals from the plasma environments found in etching equipment.
Medical Equipment - The chemical resistance of FEP protects the wiring from harsh disinfectants. This makes the KT Series ideal for diagnostic imaging devices (like CT/MRI scanners) where the shielded multicore design ensures clean signal transmission for high-resolution imaging.
Industrial Instrumentation - For precision sensors and thermocouples, signal noise is a major concern. The SB2 (Twisted Pair) and SB3 (Twisted Triple) versions effectively cancel out noise, ensuring that the data received by the control system is accurate, even in electrically noisy factory floors.
Q: Why should I choose FEP insulation over PVC?
A: FEP offers a balance of properties. Unlike PVC, it handles extreme temperatures (-90°C to +200°C) and is chemically inert. It also has a lower dielectric constant than PVC, making it better for high-frequency signals.
Q: Can I solder this high temperature cable easily?
A: Yes, the silver-plated conductor ensures excellent solderability. The silver layer prevents the copper from oxidizing, even after exposure to high heat, ensuring a reliable solder joint without the need for aggressive fluxes.
Q: What is the minimum bend radius for the multicore versions?
A: Due to the twisted construction, the diameter is larger than a single core. Generally, the minimum bend radius should be 10 to 12 times the overall cable diameter to maintain the integrity of the twist and the shield.
Q: Can I order this high temperature cable with custom print legends?
A: Yes. While we stock standard colors (black, white, red, green, etc.), we can accommodate custom printed legends (e.g., part numbers, voltage ratings) on the FEP insulation for large volume orders to assist with your internal wiring identification.
Q: What is the typical lead time for the twisted configurations (SB2/SB3)?
A: Single core (SB1) items are often available from stock. Twisted configurations (SB2, SB3) usually require a short processing time for twisting and shielding, typically ranging from 7 to 15 days depending on the quantity.
