EE xxxx SB Series Multi-Core PTFE Insulated Cable 1000V Shielded Cable without Jacket
Product Description

The EE xxxx SB Series is a high-temperature, PTFE-insulated shielded cable designed for high voltage internal wiring where signal integrity and thermal stability are essential. The construction complies with NEMA HP3 and NEMA WC27500 standards, featuring a robust 1000 Volts AC voltage rating suitable for demanding power and signal applications.

The insulation utilizes high-purity PTFE, ensuring consistent wall thickness, low dielectric loss, and reliable operation from -90°C to +200°C. The shielding consists of a high-density braid of electrolytic silver-plated annealed copper, providing superior protection against EMI/RFI interference.

The conductor is available in electrolytic silver-plated annealed copper for standard use, or High Strength Silver Plated Copper Alloy (SCA) for applications requiring enhanced tensile strength and durability.

Available in four configurations: SB1 (Single Core), SB2 (Twisted Pair), SB3 (Twisted Triples), and SB4 (Twisted Quads). Custom core counts are also available upon request to meet specific design requirements.

Key Features

High Voltage & Temperature Rating – Rated for 1000V AC and continuous operation from -90°C to +200°C. Ideal for environments where standard 600V cables are insufficient.

PTFE Insulation Technology – Available in Extruded PTFE (EE) for a smooth finish or Wrapped/Sintered PTFE tape (AFR-EE) on request for improved flexibility. Both offer excellent chemical and solvent resistance.

High-Strength Conductor Option – Unique availability of SCA (Silver Plated Copper Alloy), providing greater tensile strength for vibration-prone or high-stress installations.

Silver-Plated Copper Braid – The shielding braid is silver-plated to ensure excellent solderability and corrosion resistance, maintaining effective noise rejection in harsh environments.

Versatile Configurations – SB1 (single core), SB2 (twisted pairs), SB3 (twisted triples), SB4 (twisted quads). Custom core counts are also available.

Standard Color Coding – Insulation available in black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, grey, and white for easy circuit identification.

Applications

Aerospace & Avionics – Internal wiring for flight control computers and navigation systems. The SCA conductor option is particularly suited for airframes subject to high vibration.

Downhole Instrumentation – Withstands extreme heat (+200°C) found in geothermal and oil/gas drilling sensors, where standard polymers would fail.

Industrial Automation – SB2 and SB4 shielded cable configurations are ideal for servo motor feedback and encoder connections, resisting noise from variable frequency drives (VFDs).

Medical Equipment – Used in high-temperature sterilization areas of medical devices and imaging equipment where outgassing must be minimized.

Test & Measurement – High-frequency test leads and internal interconnects for oscilloscopes and analyzers, benefiting from the silver-plated conductor's low signal loss.

FAQ
Q: What is the difference between EE and AFR-EE insulation?

A: EE stands for extruded PTFE, which provides a smooth surface and consistent wall thickness. AFR-EE uses wrapped and sintered PTFE tape, which typically offers better flexibility and a thinner wall for the same gauge. Both PTFE insulated cables meet NEMA standards.

Q: What does SCA mean in the conductor description?

A: SCA stands for silver plated copper alloy. It is a high-strength material used instead of standard annealed copper. It is recommended for applications where the wire is subject to mechanical stress, stretching, or severe vibration.

Q: What is the voltage rating of this series?

A: The EE xxxx SB series shielded cable is rated for 1000 Volts AC, which is higher than the standard 600V rating found in many general-purpose hookup wires.

Q: Are the twisted pairs shielded individually or collectively?

A: In the SB2, SB3, and SB4 configurations, the twisted conductors are shielded collectively by a single overall braided shield.

Q: Can I get this shielded cable with an outer jacket?

A: The standard specification is unjacketed to maximize flexibility and reduce weight. However, custom jacketed versions can be discussed for specific environmental protection needs.

Q: What is the minimum order quantity?

A: MOQ depends on the specific gauge and configuration (SB1-SB4). Please contact our sales team for a quote based on your project volume.
